Press Releases

The Barbados Revenue Authority (the Authority) is warning taxpayers to be on the alert for a new phishing email scam. Reports have indicated that persons have received a suspicious Refunds Disbursement email purporting to be from the Authority with the subject: Important TAMIS Information Needed To Complete Your Refund. No such email has been issued by the Authority.

As with many phishing scams, this email includes contact information that does not belong to the Authority. Such emails use deceptive tactics to gather a variety of sensitive information from persons that can be used by identity thieves to try obtaining a tax refund and other sensitive financial information. Accordingly, the Authority is urging taxpayers and tax professionals to review all email carefully for authenticity before clicking on any embedded links or attachments.

The Authority makes every effort to protect taxpayer information and will never ask for sensitive or personal information through unsecure channels such as email, text messages or voice calls.

Again, only notification emails are issued by the Authority.  There will never be a request to provide/send your personal information or data by email or text or through a voice call.

If you receive a request of this nature, please report same to the Authority at  privacy@bra.gov.bb.
