Barbados Revenue Authority Resumes Schools’ Tax Education Programme

The Barbados Revenue Authority is pleased to announce the resumption of its Secondary Schools' Tax Education Programme aimed at empowering the next generation with essential tax information and literacy skills.

The programme kicked off with the Graydon Sealy Secondary School, whose Principle of Business students not only benefitted from a special BRA-led session on taxation at their school, but also got to visit the Authority’s Weymouth head office.

During the sessions, staff from the tax administration took the students through an interactive presentation and gave real-life examples on the workings of Value Added Tax, Pay as You Earn (PAYE) and the general principles of taxation.

The Authority will continue to visit more schools during the year and provide students with the opportunity to gain insight into the practical aspects of taxation.

This initiative, which began in 2016, underscores the Authority’s commitment to promoting tax education through community engagement at various levels and marks a significant step towards building a tax-literate population.
