ICAB Hosts the Revenue Authority at 2026 Tax Update


The Barbados Revenue Authority joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados on February 10, 2026 for their Annual Tax Update, bringing together tax professionals, business leaders, and stakeholders for a review of current and emerging tax matters.

This hybrid session provided practical insights into recent tax developments like the Economic Substance Requirement and Changes to the Corporation Tax Return and Top-up Tax Registration.

Revenue Commissioner and featured speaker, Jason King, committed to utilising a more data-driven and risk-based approach to allow the BRA to focus attention where it matters most, while making compliance easier for those who are already trying to do the right thing.

He also committed to working closer with the accounting community for critical feedback to help bridge the gap between policy and practice.

Other Revenue Authority speakers included Kafeisha Francis and Junior Dottin who presented on recent tax developments, such as the Economic Substance Requirement; changes to the Corporation Tax Return; and Top-up Tax registration. Attendees also engaged the B.R.A during a Question-and-Answer segment, for responses on their filing matters..

ICAB members took the opportunity during the Question & Answer segment to seek clarity on various filing queries impacting individuals and businesses.
