In-Person
The licence (card) must be presented in order to renew a driver’s license. Payment due on the birthdate of the licence holder but can be paid at any time during that month.
New Vehicle Registration System
Online
You can now Register your Private and Commercial vehicles online using our online services portal at portal.bra.gov.bb. Complete & submit online Vehicle Registration application. Uploads the following where relevant (png, jpg, PDF files accepted):
- Valid Identification (ID Card, Driver’s Licence or Passport).
- Certificate of weight unladen of a vehicle (Weight Certificate)
- Certificate of Inspection
- Special Licence (dependent on weight of vehicle)
- Single Administrative Documents, (Customs Documents) if applicable with chassis, engine number, name of person who brought in the vehicle & Customs Paid Stamp.
- Letter of Sale, dated and addressed to the Chief Licensing Officer, Barbados Licensing Authority, The Pine, St Michael. Letter of sale if from a Company, must come with their Letter head, Company’s Stamp and Position of the person in the company with their Name and Signature affixed at the bottom of the letter.
- If registering as a Business, the Business Certificate, Application of Business and Valid ID of one of the owners.
- If registering as a Company, the Certificate of Incorporation and the Notice of Directors must be submitted along with Valid ID of one of the Directors.
- Insurance Certificate or Cover Note with at least seven (7) days validity stating type of registration i.e. commercial.
- The Letter from the Insurance Company deeming the vehicle a total loss, if applicable.
- Road Worthy Certificate, if applicable.
- Financial Institution Letter, if applicable.
- Sticker and Disc if the road tax on the number being used has not expired.
- Retention of number letter, if applicable

- Make sure to enter a valid email address as you will receive your official receipt and documents via email.
- Payments are facilitated through the SurePay online payment platform bb.surepaybillsonline.com or at any Surepay location. When making payments, use the unique alphanumeric code provided upon submission of the online form.
- *The first-time registration of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) will continue at our Warrens Tower II office.
Your gas tank should be full when you take your vehicle to be weighed at the the Licensing Authority's weigh bridge at their Pine, St. Michael location.

Processing of Visitor Permits Online Only
A visitor who wishes to drive on the roads of Barbados is required to apply for a Visitor’s Registration Certificate commonly known as a Visitor’s Permit online at portal.bra.gov.bb.
Applications can be made for a visitor’s permit for a period of stay:
- Under 2 months, the fee is $10.00
- Over 2 months, the fee of $100.00.
Payments will be processed through the SurePay online payment platform bb.surepaybillsonline.com or SurePay's physical locations. The Authority is working to expand the payment facility options for this service in the near future.
Process
- Persons requiring a Visitor’s Permit to drive in Barbados, should complete and submit the Vistors' Permit application form online at portal.bra.gov.bb.
- Visitors will be required to upload their valid domestic driver’s licence as a supporting document on the online form.
- Once an application has been submitted and approved, the applicant will receive a unique identifier number/code to facilitate payment via SurePay. The unique alphanumeric code will be available on screen after submission and via the email address provided by applicant.
- The Visitor’s Permit will also be issued via the email address entered by applicants on their online form.
